As a designer trained in Brazil and England, passionate about technology and AI, and with roots in animation (Maurício de Sousa and Castelo Rá-Tim-Bum), choosing naïve art to illustrate this work would seem counterintuitive. But it was exactly in the purity and primitive expression of this style that I found the strength to translate the pain of a cancer diagnosis. The vibrant colors proved that the burden of disease does not need shadows; aesthetics became resistance. Each canvas reveals profound metaphors: the sneaky snake, the exhaustion of the “invisible patients” and the dramatic woodcut of Woody the dog's illness. At the center, the author resists in her oral dress — her unshakable armor of self-care.
